I think airports were designed to trap people. Every time I go to one I get rapped in the maze of gates and thoroughfares. I am forced to eat at those ridiculously expensive restaurants and spend even more time at the security checkpoint. I do not recall ever having seen an exit sign. For those that are arriving, there task is much simpler. They can easily get to the luggage area, and from there it’s a short trip to the outer doors. I fly a lot out of Los Angeles Airport, and I have always wondered what the passengers and employees would do in the case of an emergency. I have been to airports during blistering storms, and it is not too far fetched to consider that the airports power could get knocked out if the storm were powerful enough. I will have to pay more attention on my next trip to see if there are adequate exit signs. It is not something I consider every day, but perhaps I should check other places as well. You never pay attention to such things until you’re forced to do so. At those times, an exit sign can be a welcome sight, like finding the exit door of the airport after a long trip.
